Arranged marriage is a marital union where the bride and groom are selected by individuals other than the couple themselves. There are number of factors taken into consideration that includes Age, Physical Appearance, Education, Skill set, Caste, Financial Stability of the family, some cultures also matches kundali (Horoscope) of the couple.
The older generation have been living a certain way, where they get married early, start a family and follow the traditional norms of marriage that they think is correct way of living and disapproving their way of living means younger generation are spoiled.
Indian parents thinks highly of their image in society and they want to maintain it. Society automatically assumes something is wrong with you if your life doesn’t follow the traditional way of living. That turns into rumours and gossips that your parents don’t want and that leads to them pressuring their kids into getting married. They involve everyone they know priest, neighbours, relatives to find a match to settle you down before you become a target of gossip.
Comedy is tragedy plus time!
This is what our Uncommon artist Yameena did. She created doodles on banter between the two generations and what single adult goes through when they reach ‘marriageable age’ where parents, relatives and basically anyone who knows that your parents are looking for a match.
Ahhh! The obsession of our parents and relatives over our marriage is never gonna end! So, She transformed her mortifying experiences around the topic of shaadi into a doodle series for all of the unmarried adults to relate to and laugh!
Now, Scroll through the misery that unites us all!

About the Artist.
Yameena is our Nawabi uncommon doodle artist, born and brought up in Lucknow. She moved to Oman, where she completed her high school then moved back to the City of Nawabs to study bachelors in business. She used to sketch as a child and her parents were really supportive of her love for arts. Her friends convinced her to take her passion to the next level and that’s how @doobliidoo was created.
Yameena was inspired by the incidences from her life and all the unmarried girls. The Motive behind this series was to share her experience with other girls and boys to assure them that everyone goes through this at some point of their life and they aren’t alone.
She says creative block is the biggest challenge for an artist. Yameena describes creative block as the satan of an artist’s life and we couldn’t agree more! It hits you hard, out of nowhere and you’re just sitting there clueless of your next move.
You can always learn something from others experiences. When we asked Yameena to share a piece of advice with our audience she said:
Never stop dreaming and creating, the progress might be slow but definitely worth the wait. If someone comes up to you and ask you to share your talent with people then just listen to them and you’ll be grateful later. Don’t listen to confused souls! People who don’t know what they’re doing can’t direct you in a right path.
When asked about her future plans she says:
‘I’m terrible at implementing what I plan, I take life as it comes. I’ve never even thought in my wildest of dreams that someday I will connect with so many people through my doodles, but here I am.
Somewhere in the back of my mind I always wanted to be different from the crowd, 5-10 years from now I really want to sign a few autographs 😉’
Team TUB is glad that Yameena shared her art with us and we got to share it with our TUB Community. Follow Yameena on her social media to discover more such doodles on different topics and make us relate and laugh even more. Also, She launched her own merchandise! If you’re looking for some amazing notebooks, sketchbooks, badges etc you can get it after July 6th! Keep an eye on her Instagram @doobliidoo
