Often writing can be thankless and unrewarded.But when it makes sense to the world you belong to- the purpose is served. Our Uncommon writer Anjum Choudhary is one such person who has developed this habit of practicing writing every day to provide meaning to her life!
Born in India and living in UAE currently, Anjum is working in the field of forensic science, more precisely in narcotics and toxicology! Anjum has been into writing forever, but in the early days, she had no clue that it is called creative writing!

Anjum does not believe in planning ahead but believes that everyone is partially made up of pixie dust and quotes – “We all need a little of that to survive the falls”.
What inspires her?
Writing for Anjumis penning down the words straight from the heart. She confesses that
“Everything inspires me. I look everywhere and in everyone for inspiration- Me, my mind, my soul, my thoughts and this universe. All of it is my muse- my pen flows just with the very thought of it”
Whether it is her mood, music, a beauty of nature around, sorrow, pain, sadness, happiness, rage, excitement, love, the optimism of any state of affairs or anything that gives importance to something insignificant, is an inspiration for her. She draws the curtains aside for her words to reveal the magic!
She feels enlivened that she can create an illusionary world by her own words!
Anjum is highly self-motivated and inspired. She loves feeling the kick and adrenaline rush when she is surprised by herself.
She writes because she loves to and not because she has to!
What challenges did she face or still faces in her sphere of creativity?
Getting a sudden idea or passionately observing different people, their behaviour, places, and problems is not an easy task. Often there is a shadow of constant niggling and opinions formed about your work by the people around. It certainly takes a lot of determination and sheers hard work where writing creatively satisfies you.
Anjum strongly believes that writing is an art and not a rat race or a competition.
“An artist should follow his passion and the work, words should flow easily and one should never dig them out or look for them. A writer’s creativity should flow on the paper or poured through their fingertips in the hearts of the people without much effort, complication or challenges”.
Like any other artist, Anjum sometimes faces the writer’s block but she overcomes it by taking time off writing completely. But she is never away from words – reading keeps her company in the meanwhile.
Dreams to fulfill:
If you want to follow your dream, you need to be focused in one direction! It’s not easy but if you know it’s for you then it’s worth it!
As a popular writer, Anjum wants to follow the power of her dreams and wishes that her art is appreciated all over the globe. She wishes to be a full-time writer and publish many books which can be easily accessible to everyone.
Advice for budding artists:
She never attempts to try harder coz she believes in the natural flow of thoughts. Anything pushed or forced upon makes it look fake and unworthy! So all she does is wait until she’s ready to kick start again.
“Don’t write casually, She says savour your solitude and write as much as you can. People will have opinions but you know whom to listen and whom not to”!
