Dear Irrfan,
Once in a while we meet people who do not become an everyday part of our life, but leave behind a mark that compels us to remember them because that is the impact they have on us and that is exactly what you did with the kind of characters you played.
While you stood by PIKU in her journey, quietly observing and understanding her you taught us how women despite their over hectic schedules, immense love and possessiveness towards their family are capable of receiving love and care. They might be QARIB QARIB SINGLE lately , not in the way your movie depicts, but more in the millennial way where people are so afraid to say the three words, but there’s something special about the way you said it though it might have backfired for a while, YOGI– “Why are you mad at me for saying I love you?” Jaya-“Because you said it so late.” But come on, life is a KARWAAN and it’s never too late because, “Dil ki har baat sher nahi hoti..kuch lafzon ki zariye apne haal-e-dil bayan karne ki koshish hoti hai.”
“Do yourself a favour. Before it’s to late, without thinking too much about it first, pack a pillow and a blanket and see as much of the world as you can”, THE NAMESAKE is one of those works by you that tries to make us sit back and realise that life may be a complicated story, but it’s important to read in between the lines and realise that right in the middle of those big days are a few moments that make our life worth living. To have the JAZBAA to survive even when all you do is let go and and move on because “Mohabbat hai tabhi toh jaane diya..zidd hoti toh bahon mein hoti.” Irrfan Khan you made us understand the importance of sitting and staring in the world where no one has the time to smell their LUNCHBOX, ”I wanted to come to you and tell you all this in person, but I just watched you wait. You looked beautiful.”
I could go on and on because you’ve given us a few of those memorable characters that no one else could have done better, but I guess sadly that was it. Maybe you finally finished your PUZZLE and were content with the right choices , ”When you complete a puzzle you know you’ve made all the right choices.”
With Love
Your Fan.
