Meeting people on the road is an adventure!
Most of the times they are open-minded and willing to put themselves forward to make interesting conversations.
“The moment they find themselves in your comfort, they open up their hearts and homes for you. They make you feel welcome and your heart swells every time you think of them.”
They also make you learn something more about yourself reminding you that the world isn’t as scary as you believe it to be.
On my way back home from a small street of Mumbai.. I happen to see this charming old lady who was immersed in some deep thoughts.. I hesitated at first but then asked her if I could click a picture of her.
“What followed next is a hearty conversation which left a deep smile on my face and sweet memory to reckon with!!”
Me : Hello aunty.. Can I click your picture please?
Aunty : Kyu, kaiko.. Kya karneka hai?
Me : Nothing aunty just aise hi
Aunty : Mere photo kyu lena hai?
Me : Mujhe accha lagta hai photo kichna
Aunty : Bakwas mat kar..(and she started laughing..) Blackmail karegi kya?
Me : I couldn’t help but chuckle.. Nahi nahi aunty.. Lol
In the midst of this… I did click a few.. When she realized she said,
Aunty : Aree ruko meri saari toh barabar karne do.
Me : You look very good aunty.
Aunty : Aree mere baal.. Maine baal nahi banaye.. (And she started combing her hair with her hands..)
Then she got up and adjusted her pallu..
And sat there looking at herself and making sure the pictures did turn out well.
When I finished clicking she was so excited and when I showed her the pictures, she grabbed my phone and would not let go. She was so lost in looking at herself with a big smile on her face.
I told her she was really beautiful and she couldn’t stop gushing!!
I might have interrupted her chain of thoughts that she was immersed in to kill time in this lonely phase of her life. But am surely happy to have brought that smile on her face!
These unexpected possibility and exciting pleasures of talking to people you don’t know sometimes changes you as a person.
“No matter how small our interaction lasted. I felt a much better person having met her and gave her a moment to feel happy about!”
In this world of known, unknowns, talking to strangers sounds a bit slippery! There are a whole lot of people in the world you have never met. The voices we want to hear are something we already recognize, we rarely take the pain to experience something or someone new.
“Through The Uncommon Box, we want to pull you into this experience of shared humanity of interactions with people on the streets which can create genuine emotional connections and open you to a world that unknowingly structures the choices you make and the way you live!”
So stop by for these eye-opening interruptions in the middle of the road and realize how talking to strangers wakes you up!
