Who is K? you might wonder! What does K stand for? Well, allow us to introduce you to this beautiful mind, extremely talented and brilliant weaver of words – Kulvadana!!!
#1 The Power of Yin
Her Thoughts behind this Piece – “This is my take on the existing misogynistic views and commodification of women. Rights or respect, given or taken, ought to be gender neutral. As souls, we are even. And organs of perishable bodies should not define supremacy.”
(What we think? Just Wow!! :O
We are blown away with her thoughts. )
And This is Dr. Priya Dolma a.k.a Kulvadana, from Gangtok, Sikkim – for Y’all!! (Yep Our very own Poetess of India)
Doctor and a Poetess? Yes, you read that right She is not just an extraordinary Writer but also a Doctor by profession.
What an Uncommon inspiring combination. Don’t ya think?
Allow us to take you on a detour from the regularities of life through her rich words and wonderful thoughts behind every poetic piece. And here we go…
#2 Creativity
Her Thoughts behind this Piece – “This piece is close to my heart because I talk about what ‘creativity’ means to me. Art is honesty and it should reflect in our work. Also, we should not be judgmental about any creative language which differs from ours.”
(Oh Yes! we resonate with every word of yours’s, Priya!) #Behonest
Let’s know Dr. Priya a little more? Shall we?
Her Story on how the Writing happened
“I had not been writing much during my training as an MBBS student. After graduation, I worked as a medical doctor for the India Reserve Battalion, (#Respect) in Delhi, for a couple of years. I quit my job for further preparation and having had a lot of free time in hand, along with my studies, I adopted penmanship again to rediscover my zest for writing. Social media blogs have made it easier for me to connect with various other artists, and now I’ve been actively sharing my words on Instagram.
I reckon writing is more therapy than a hobby. As an introvert in gatherings and an extrovert in musings, my ambiversion found its safe haven in words. ”
[Fun fact – Did you know K, started sharing her words on Instagram just 2 years back and now she has almost over A Hundred Thousand Followers? Woah! – We call it “The power of her words” that becomes almost irresistible to not follow or to not read more for most of us, for it leaves us with a “Want” to read and indulge on her writings even more and more and more!] Please Never Stop, K! #Keepgoing
#3 Art
About Piece – “I have glorified my idea of ‘art’ in this piece. The omnipotence and universality of its existence.”
Let’s dive in more into her thoughts on Art
“I am an art enthusiast and honor all forms of creative self-expression. Pencil sketching, watercolor paintings, cooking, include some of my hobbies.
Art surrounds us. Even the accurate distance Earth is located from the Sun, not being burnt to Mercury or frozen to Pluto, I believe, is artistically orchestrated by the Universe for sustaining life.
We are all artists in our own right. And this ability to perceive art and portray it, be it in photographs, poetry, paintings, music, cooking delicacies, or beautification of mind, body and soul, is an individualistic forte which I love to appreciate in everyone.”
(We couldn’t agree more on her thoughts on ART!! And y’all reading this, do you hear the art in her tone of words? Even the basic explanation from her, sounds so poetic! Doesn’t it?)
[Funfact Two – Kulvadana not only started sharing her own words as “Poetryandprosebyk” but also started a community on Instagram as a platform to feature other writers, poets, art, music, spoken word, basically all kinds of artists under the umbrella of “Artlixir” -The Elixir of ART as “Artlixir poetry, Artlixir fresh, Artlixir Brush, ArtlixirMusic, Artlixirspoken” ]
#4 Unapologetically, Human – A piece on empowerment and self-reliance.
(Yass!! A human! A rebellion! Unapologetically!) #Empowered
Story Behind “Kulvadana”
“It probably dates back to my school days when I fancied scribbling anecdotes and prose on diaries.
I took a keen interest in literary pursuits and contributing to the campus events sustained my passion for writing. I went by the pseudonym ‘Kulvadana’ to write for local newspapers and have maintained that name till date. I have been a national level debate speaker. Oration, elocution and dramatics were fields which delighted me. “
(okay! Readers, help us, List out., Are you with us? Yes? Let’s list)
A Doctor (Not just a normal one but Someone Who served the Nation as Medical doctor for India Reserve Battalion), A Writer, An Artist, and, A National Level Debate Speaker! Also, Creator and Founder of “Artlixir community” *I mean* Just Brilliant!! We are simply amazed! She’s truly an epitome of both passion & talent) #Awesomeness
#5 Be you – A piece on self-acceptance and immunity to bias
(Such clairvoyance of thoughts – Yes! We agree! Self-Acceptance comes first!) #beyou
Her Inspiration
“I am massively inspired by the surge of emotions that can overcome a sensitive person. I am a true-blue HSP. Empathy and sympathy have both propelled me to write my pieces. There are several unnamed and unexplainable feelings that can contort in a person’s heart. I try my best to pen them down.”
And this goes without saying, that my family has been my constant source of inspiration. Being an only child, it was never easy for me to adapt to several social situations. My grandmother, father and mother have instilled enough strength in me to take career risks and pursue my passion beyond the rat race of survival.”
#6 Stand up for yourself – A piece on strength and confidence.
(There’s a message for all of us! Said Truly and put in words so beautifully – Stand up for yourself <3 ) #beyourownhero
Her thoughts on challenges in Creativity Sphere
“The challenge lies in the unconventional character of creativity itself.
I am split between sciences and arts and trying to find a stable ground between the two.
I used to be concerned about the reception of my work, mainly because I often write ambiguous pieces that are open to individual interpretation. However, I kept reminding myself that more than writing to an audience, I have been enjoying the entire process of creation and utility. Popularity is only a secondary perquisite we gain in the progression of creating scriptive art out of the passion which feeds our souls.
Creativity is not a slave to judgment and just being able to create, should give us a high.” #truethat
#7 Pregnancy – A piece on conception and motherhood.
(Isn’t that so beautifully put? Just love the delicacy of words!) #miracle
(Well well well! Before you read the below lines… this one’s a surprise for y’all,
followers of Her writings and for all the old ones and those who have fallen in love just while reading this!)
Here it goes ….
“Also, I firmly believe that we cannot be good writers if we are not great readers. There is a lot to learn from each other and the different genres of art. Personally, I struggle with time management and am not able to read as voraciously as I would like. I haven’t ventured professionally as a writer but a book is on the verge of release. “Ivory Gleam” (YASSSS!!!) has been signed for publication by Lead start Publishers, Mumbai, and should be hitting the bookstores soon.”
(Ok hold on! While the hard copy is not yet released, we have a Link to Kindle copy of “IVORY GLEAM” in the end of this article! Yay! – Check that out!! 😀 ) #bibliophile
#8 Unfelt – A piece on longing
(Did you read that? Read it again! So many feels! The last line just hit the us deep!! Unfelt – Felt Uncommon) #deep
So, we asked her what makes her creativity, Worthwhile! Here’s what she had to say
“I hail from the second-smallest Indian state of Sikkim, in the northeast. I am a tribal woman. The state was an erstwhile Himalayan kingdom and joined the Indian Union in 1975. During my course of work, and as I started sharing my words on a global platform, I came across many people who were unaware of the existence of our state. Through my art, first and foremost, I feel happy introducing myself as a native of Sikkim and spreading awareness among those interested to know about my region. “
(Oh yes! You should Follow her and follow her insta-stories, to get a sneak-peak in to the mesmerising beauty of the Sikkim)
#9 Star-crossed – A piece on unrequited love
(By any chance, while reading it., did it sound like a melodious song to you too? IKR It totally did sound like a song to us!) #Sync
Here’s more on how the poetry makes it worthwhile to her
“I have adopted topics of women empowerment and femininity in my work. As a woman, I feel that social maladjustments and the need for recognition in a male-dominated culture should be expressed more vocally, and specifically, in solid art like poetry.
(Now that’s an awesome approach, and we love every bit of it!)
#10 Bring you back – A piece on the loss of a loved one by death
(This hit so many feels! I am sure all of us at some point of time felt the same WRT loss of a loved one, such a surreal thought to live with) #somanyfeels
She says
“I strive to be fairly relatable in my content and want to be the voice for those people who struggle with expression. Also, I want to spread positivity, love, light, learning, experiences, self-growth and self-reflection through a decent read. “
(Oh, we already agree! Her writings are truly relatable and it puts light on every part of life ❤)
#11 Know Thyself – A piece on self-assurance
(At some level we all do seek validations? Don’t we? And here’s a perfect message for us to stop doing so) #youdontneedvalidations
Her Writing inspiration
“I basically write poetry and prose with one superficially apparent and one hidden meaning, focusing on rhythm and structural unity. I am inspired by Nature and attempt to employ its magnificence in my humble efforts. I try to be versatile in my pieces ranging them from melancholy, longing, love and loss, to inspiration, particular for the fairer gender.”
#12 Missed opportunity – A piece on vengeance.
(Did you read it in satirical tone? No? You should! Try it And see how much power the tone holds and how the words echo and empower your “Self-worth”) #youareworthit
#13 Ache – A piece on affectionate love
(Wow! “if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have known” ) #relatable
Her Dreams
“I want to evolve as an artist every single day, because this would help me evolve as a person as well. I am particularly interested in social services and using human intelligence to help each other. If I can touch a single soul with my work and impact him or her in a good way, I’d consider my craft to be a success.”
(Oh, trust me, K! It is more than success!! You have not only touched one but a many soul with your wonderful work of words)
#14 Only human – A piece on human follies
(Alert!! Call 911! We are running out of words because the very first thought that crosses our mind after reading her writing is – WOW!!#wow
It is true, We are all fools and we all do mistakes #toerrishuman but just don’t repeat! )
Her thoughts as Influencer
“I want determination to take over motivation. I think, motivation which influences from outside is flickering and never constant. Like the Moon which ebbs and flows on the tides, motivation can make or mar a person, if we depend entirely on it. But determination or inner strength will never betray. Similar to the Sun, which can, not only shine on its own, but is strong enough to light whatever falls on its way. I hope to spread my verses among kindred spirits, encouraging them to be self-reliant and independent. And at the same time, in a position to enlighten others who seek them.”
(This thought, these words, the intention itself reflects so much determination in them and we surely are influenced by ‘em)
#15 Masquerade – A piece on spiritual acknowledgement
Her thoughts on Spirituality and Her Fav reads
“Genre-wise, I love reading Shelley for romance and the uplifting free verses of Walt Whitman. Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Unending Love’ is my all-time favorite.
I am an avid fan of spiritual hypnotherapy, fascinated by the work of Dr Brian Weiss and Dr Michael Newton. They have transformed my myopic vision to answer many of the queries I nursed regarding life and existence as a whole. Transmutation of energy, the transgression of souls and spiritual healing are topics I love reading about. Linda Goodman and Doreen Virtue as authors have heightened my interest in astrology, karma, miracles and faith.”
Well that has been an experience in itself while drenching our soul on her eloquent works of words in Poetry and prose, also so much food for our thoughts to ponder upon and a whole lot of different perspective to take on. We know its same at your end too. #soulful
Here’s what she has to say to the aspiring creative-writers
“I want to emphasize the fact that there is an artist in each one of us, which makes us creative equals. We have to worship our art and respect fellow writers. Using art to spread positivity, and with honorable intentions, will always reward us spiritually. It helps in our growth as sentient beings. Whatever you do, please be passionate and honest about it. Use your talent to help and heal others.
I urge all my fellow writers to first write for oneself, and then think about the reception.
“People who write from their hearts say not what others want to hear but what they want to convey”
It is extremely brave to be able to pen down personal sentiments and set them out on a platter for the world to relish or relate, swallow or spit.
The sincerity of emotional expression, not consciously aimed at impressing, is what should genuinely matter to an artist of integrity.
Take a note aspiring writers and artists! We strongly echo with her voice and believe it!
