Let us introduce you to one such uncommonest artist who tries to portray all the funny side of life sometimes of her own musings, sometimes on “How to annoy your better half” and about their loving kid – her doggie, in her own unique artsy style.
She is Supriya Kaushik who is currently living in the Grand Canyon state (Phoenix, USA) with her husband and her pup Yumi and She says she can’t get over the beautiful evening skies there.
Here’s one of her unique art showing her fam and how she is annoyed and the poor pup is scared by her husband’s burps. We think it’s absolutely hilarious.
Let’s go on and take this forward and get knowing her in her own words along with her comic illustrations.
About Her –
I am a dog momma who loves taking long walks with my doggo; Even better when my husband joins us. An amateur CrossFit enthusiast. Love how intense a CrossFit workout can get. As the old adage goes – “Home is where the heart is”, for me this is Bengaluru. I am a self-taught freelance illustrator.
(Rolling on the floor and laughing, so dramatic and funny)
When asked her about her journey and how it all started, she says –
I had never thought I would be an illustrator one day. Although I loved drawing and painting it was just my hobby. I used to be this kid in college whose books were filled with doodles rather than notes.
When I quit my job at a corporate I started illustrating more and sharing the same on social media. People loved the experiences I was sharing and could relate to them. This was a real confidence booster. Though I was not doing this professionally at that point I took it up seriously and that paid off when I started getting projects.
(I mean look at this illustration, who wouldn’t relate to this? LOL)
Drive behind her passion –
Art and creativity has always been native to me.I have grown up seeing my mom being the amazing artist she is today. It didn’t take me long to begin questioning my then corporate job and start thinking about pursuing my passion.
After I moved to the US to join my husband I had the opportunity to reset and choose a career that I am passionate about. It has been close to two years since and there has been no stopping.
(we know you are going all lollollollooking at this)
Her Inspiration –
My mother is an artist and she has always inspired me. She was the reason for me to start drawing and painting in the first place.
Alicia Souza has been my other biggest source of inspiration. I love her artwork and wish to be a sensation like she Is today!
(I mean look at this quirkiness, she definitely will be a sensation soon)
Her Motivating factor –
I try to keep my artwork true to my life and draw inspiration from the world around me.
(How can an illustration get anymore truer than these, she does reflect the truth of daily lives)
Idea behind theme and inputs of her illustrations –
My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have known each other for over 17 years now. We have endless stories and squabbles which I draw humour from. I have found this to be one of the most relatable content with my followers.
(uh what? We just heard you saying soo relatable looking at this one! 😉
We asked about challenges while creating this theme.? She said –
Most of my ideas start as a story and to squeeze this into a single illustration is challenging at times. I also have to keep others perception in mind and ensure my idea is clearly conveyed.
This is not pertinent just to one theme, I find this task especially challenging when I am designing wedding invites. Brides can be demanding.
(A little jealousy is all you need to know how much you appreciate your love. Isn’t? 😛 )
Her ultimate dream –
My dream is to start selling my own merchandise and I also hope to illustrate in children’s books.
(There’s a child in each one of us! It comes out especially when we are too seriously a foodie)
Didn’t you love it? We are sure you did! We couldn’t stop going lol and smiling looking at her illustrations!
