‘An Engineer Went On A Trip & A Photographer Returned’
This is how Uncommon photographer Rahul Singi sums up his journey as a photographer. @Photowale.bapu as he is known in the Instagram circuit, Rahul shared with us 8 photo stories from his eventful journey so far, as the man behind the lens of some lovely photographs on Instagram.
# Sparkling Eyes
The eyes are identified as the window to the soul. The clear sparkle of this pair of eyes in this portrait by Rahul, speak of the hopes and dreams of a little soul learning to know the world.
Taken on his Mandya trip, this photo is special because Rahul feels that eyes are a powerful medium of expression.
# Dance
This is one of Rahul’s favourite images, which got exhibited in “Click Share Chat Katta” – Photography Exhibition 2017.
The stunning silhouette outlines the grace and poise of the danseuse; along with the deeper symbolism of the cosmic rhythm that is symbolised by the sun on the horizon. The universe too has its own music and dance- are we tuned in to it?
# Friends
Rahul says, ‘Childhood friends and the memory are the one which remains with you forever. This image reminds me about my friends.’
Three’s company- the best of everything comes in threes. This picture really makes you smile, because it will remind you about your best times with your friends. It does not matter where you are, or what toys are around, your friends brightened up any dull day!
# Shepherd
This is a special portrait for Rahul because it was his first image that got published. The shepherd herds his flock, cares and nurtures for them. It is a bond between two species, based on trust and caring. Commercialism may be the incentive but this connection is symbolic of deeper links between Man and Nature.
# Hope
The portrait is simply titled Hope. Lines from an Emily Dickinson poem describes Hopes as a thing with feathers that perches on your soul. Rahul has beautifully captured that very emotion in the eyes of this lady.
Monochrome and Portrait makes a better combination. Rahul loves this image because this in image lady shows the rays of hope in her eyes.
# Girl Child Education
Rahul has started a series of images on girl child education in Instagram and this is one of his favourite image from that series. He feels photographers have the responsibility to show the truth to the society and if he can make a difference to at least one people through his images then it is good for the society.
The intent look on the face of the little girl shows how much she is drawn to the book. The colours on the wall are definitely symbolic of the colourful dreams she can now make true with the help of education.
# Out of the Box
This is such a feel-good picture! The little elfine smile of the child popping out of the box warms the heart. Haven’t we all had moments like these- which make us go ‘awww’? Out of the box also means something special. And indeed, this is a special picture!
# Relationship
Fathers are not known to express their feelings openly to their children. For some strange reason, masculinity has never been associated with tender emotions or the display of emotions. But all men will know that this is as untrue as it can get. Here is a picture of a father and child- the bond is evident. Hence, this picture is special to Rahul.
These 8 photo stories also reflect the way @photowaleybapu is different from other photographers:
He explains,
I feel, the story which I see within the images, or the story which I explained through my clicks makes me different from others. I don’t shoot what it looks like I shoot but what it feels like in capturing a true moment which is passing by.
For an individual who makes it his priority to follow his dream, Rahul Singi is definitely Uncommon. His style of work shows that everything is possible, if we will it to be. The Uncommon Box wishes him the best for all his future endeavours.
