“Lost, yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered for they are gone forever.” – Horace Mann
Our solar system houses the greatest unimaginable mysteries in the universe. The rising and setting of the sun have a deep impact on the daily life of the people. The Uncommon Box takes great pleasure in presenting this wonderful experience as seen through the lens of Uncommon photographer Anwesha Chatterjee, which shall truly leave you in wonder and awe! She has skilfully captured the ephemeral change in the sky at sunrise and sunset with the lights, the color, the clouds, the vibrant and muted tones of the sky shifting and changing gradually, leaving us spellbound!
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away”
Who is Anwesha?
She is a small town independent girl from Kolkata. She lives her life to fullest by capturing moments through her pictures. “Photography makes me happy” she reminisces. Though she is a workaholic, whether it be to get rid of boredom at work or capture a face on the street, she loves to create interesting photo stories. It gives her a sense of adventure and freedom she says.
Her endeavor is to capture each moment filled with joy within her own ‘CITY OF JOY’. For her, it’s not only a city but a heritage in itself. It is a passion and an emotion too, she depicts!
The Uncommon Box is immensely delighted to take you through a series of beautifully crafted pictures clicked by Anwesha with some magical effects during the GOLDEN HOUR.
What is the GOLDEN HOUR?
The “GOLDEN HOUR” is nothing but the mesmerizing effect of sunlight just after sunrise and just before sunset”
Anwesha insists that we should all listen to our instincts and do something for the sake of our inner happiness and mental peace.
Being our own philosophers, we can easily relate to these precious moments in our lifetime.
“Suppose the sunrise resembles birth and sunset refers to death, we should also have some golden hours between the sunrise and sunset of our life”, Anwesha muses.
Reason for her passion
She describes her experience as ‘“CHILDHOOD”, “CHILD LIKE”, “CHILDISH”— the most magnificent words in her dictionary. The innocence, purity, laughter, mischievousness, and carelessness portrayed in each picture expresses that experience bringing a smile to one’s face and that makes her feel alive. She wishes to go back to her childhood when she comes across such moments.
What makes it worthwhile?
Most of the people relate their daily chores to the rising and setting sun. Hypothetically, we assume that sunset time symbolizes a near completion or an end to something! Our long working hours and the stress at work play a major role in ruining our peace and harmony. We always seem to want more than what we have!
“I simply realize those kids do not have much to live a lavish life, but what they have is peace, joy, moments, liveliness, self-sufficient mind and self-satisfaction. I applaud them, salute them and thank them for making me realize the actual meaning of life”
The “GOLDEN HOUR” symbolizes eternal peace which makes us appreciate different experiencesthroughout life under the magical light.
You can just keep staring at the sky changing every second, creating some great moments. The phenomenon of the rising and setting of sun makes you feel warm and peaceful with a ray of hope and a feeling that “Nothing remains constant and we should accept every change in life”! Soaking in this incredible beauty and simply being a part of it is more essential than making an image.
Each morning is special with an absolute splendor laid out in the sky welcoming a new life each new day! Life is worth waking up to the chirping of birds, and the sweet smell of wet grass; and enjoy retiring into the quiet moments of a stress free evening.
It is but obvious that watching a sunrise or sunset brings a sense of gratitude and you feel thankful to Mother Nature for bringing you this beautiful gift every single day!
We at The Uncommon Box are grateful to Anwesha for letting us be a part of this magical moment. Each frame of hers is amazingly beautiful and unique in its own way! The Golden Hour is indeed a sight to marvel at!
