Kolkata also known as Calcutta, the capital of West Bengal is known for its rich culture, its enthusiastic people and its warm welcoming nature.
It is one of the pioneer cities of a renaissance, well known for its architectural and historical importance, where food is not only considered something that satisfies your hunger but also as love for life. But is this enough to describe a city that’s too close to your heart? No, there is a lot more attached to it.
Our Uncommon photographer Anirban Dutta has created a series of 12 dramatically appealing photo tales which incredibly captures the city in its different moods simultaneously, using the double exposure.
It is very well said that “If you want a city with a soul, come to Calcutta”. It’s not only a city but also an emotion, as they say.
“Calcutta is a feeling,
Calcutta is love and
Calcutta is hope for many…”
Can you relate to the above? If you don’t, do read and fall in love with the city.
Thought behind the Phototales:
Anirban says,“Calcutta the other word of Love! When I thought of narrating Calcutta through lens and camera, it came as an eclectic realization to me that it’s more than my birth city to me.”
This was his first attempt…
“After an overwhelming response along with features from this photograph, I took up the challenge of making a cosmopolitan exposure series.”
Life is truly a multiple exposures feeling in Calcutta.
“This is where I belong; this is where I came back, every time I found myself lost amidst the highway and alley of life. I have opened my eyes to the city’s every corner and discovered the way of life is simple yet exemplary in every manner here.”
A journey that never ends goes through my city of Calcutta.
An unmatched style of living, an unforgettable parallax of life!
“I tried to compose photographs through my humble notions of street photography. I tried to find the cosmopolitan city in every photograph I took.’
Life is truly a multiple exposures feeling in Calcutta.
The Calcutta Kiss!
“A walk along the Howrah Bridge and an evening by the ferry ghats of the city made me feel that it’s the amalgamated journey of love, passion, compassion, friendship and life.”
A prayer for all, no matter where we stand!
A blend of our brotherhood is felt across the city!
“I tried to give the few ordinary shots, which I took by the river bank and while crossing the river before the day’s Sun set,the multiple exposure feel, And what I found was…..”
An artisan’s heaven and an artist’s home is my Calcutta!
A narrative childhood, a reminiscent pair of eyes!
The Barracks got a Bow in Calcutta!
A flying paradise, a floating journey to my soul! Let my letters be untold!
There are few journeys that are never going to end and this is one of those. The love for your city and the passion for capturing each and every move of it is a delight for a photographer which is also a never ending process. The thrill of approaching your city in a different way has created a visual treat for us.
The Uncommon Box congratulates Anirban for coming up with such an unusual idea of representing the city to us. We wish him all the very best and hope that this effort of him makes him accomplish his dreams in an uncommon way.
