These powerful lines hold within them a deafening scream for help and freedom from the quick sand of depressive thoughts. Depression is a silent epidemic and has more people in its grasp than we shall ever know. Our Uncommon poetess Ruminative Minds expresses the thoughts of a mind trapped and seeking release. She leaves a touching note for the readers in the conclusion, which offers hope for the hopeless.
Dead Inside
Helplessly drowning in the thoughts
that keep pouring inside the mind
seamlessly wandering in the lands
unknown to my consciousness, and I
keep wondering if I could ever come
out of the cages that have built
since ages of anxiety and cases of
loneliness.
Entangled in the chains of repeated
pain and struggle to regain the moment
of happiness that I cannot claim I ever
had. Lame excuse. Is it? Oh, what a shame!
Tainted with something that cannot be
tamed. Like a corpse, I remain unseen
and unheard in a corner, all my attempts
go in vain.
I need an escape to come out of this trap. //
Depressions don’t always need to end with suicide. They can be overcome. Fight over it, don’t lose yourself, and don’t drown. Vent out. Let go. Save yourself from the harm that your thoughts cause. And if you know someone in depression help them come out. Life is worth more than finding ways to end it sooner. Sometimes all a person needs is someone to hear what their life is like. Just listen. Let’s make this world a better place!
