No one overdoes the ‘I love you Ma’ melodrama better than Indians. So keeping the spirit of Mothers’ Day alive, we at Team The Uncommon Box thought of combating the mushiness on social media with a slice of humour served out straight and in large quantities with the ‘Bharatiya Mummy wala kadchi’ a.k.a serving spoon.
These servings were the brainchild of Adhikaar Batra who runs the super witty meme page called @indianssay that on Facebook.
Find your Mummy in these memes. 🙂
When the last time or only time, Mummyji was let you off rather lightly with one roti or even none? She won’t take your word for it- and you will be reminded of how you spent 9 months in her tummy to give her all the information she would need to deal with you for a lifetime!
Mother India lives in perpetual fear that her child will be attacked by kidnappers or the cold virus. She fears them both equally and it is her lifelong mission to protect her child from them with equal fervour. It doesn’t matter if you are a 5 year old kid, or a 55 year old with your own kids!
A close friend confided once that on off days from office he often feels like the ‘Ramu kaka’ of the house- the name reserved for duty bound domestic help. Mothers will always have a list of chores you can run in your ‘free time’ outside the house. Now that free time could be you returning from college or even going out on a field trip.
This one is the story of every home. Mothers have antennae- they believe they pick up signals or radiowaves emitted by the brains of their kids. So an innocent ‘I like __ ‘becomes the first and final step towards a finalized matrimonial alliance. If you can convince her that ‘we’re just good friends’, she will still go ahead and play Cupid or Kaamdev
It is the living fear of every mother that her offspring will make choices that will be as unacceptable as joining a terrorist outfit. So if you want to be different, try taking on the reaction of a mother who is quite lost in translation!
These absolutely brilliant memes were created by Adhikaar Batra who is a second year media student, and a self-taught graphic designer- with the whackiest sense of humour you’d find in someone.
