THE RIVER AND US

If I had not seen the river, I wouldn’t know
How the breeze feels,
How the sun doesn’t set in the horizon,
Rather the waters drink it up in a majestic gulp!
I wouldn’t know how my stone excites the ripples,
How the sailing boats create the perfect canvas,
Or, how the nascent waves whisper in my ears,
And teach me how to love.

If I had not seen the river, I wouldn’t know
How to get lost within limits;
I wouldn’t know how your eyes
aren’t only cisterns of care,but
Oceans of love, cherished, nourished.

If I had not seen the river, I wouldn’t know
How you are not a fancy fountain,
But the rains that the river waits for,
Or someone like me,waiting for the essential drops;

Only if I had not seen the river, I wouldn’t know
You are all that I was missing,
Sweeter than the breeze,
Glowing like the molten sunlight. . .
